  • Description: Offers an additional monthly allotment of energy at a lower rate and extra notifications in advance of a Public Safety Power Shutoff (PSPS) outage. The additional allotment of energy is approximately 500 kilowatt-hours (kwh) of electricity and/or 25 therms of gas per month depending on the customer’s energy needs as verified by a medical practitioner during certification. PSPS notifications are sent by phone, text or email and are sent 48 hours before power shut off, 24 hours before power shut off, and just prior to power shut off. If a customer does not respond to the notifications, a PG&E representative will conduct an in-person doorbell ring to ensure that the customer is aware and can prepare to stay safe.

  • Eligibility: Residential customers of PG&E who have a full-time resident in their home that depends on power for certain medical needs. Some qualifying medical conditions and devices are listed below. A full list of qualifying medical conditions and devices is available online at: pge.com/medicalbaseline. There is no income requirement but certification from a medical practitioner will be required as part of the application process. Individuals who are not a PG&E account holder are eligible to apply, but will need to provide the following information on their application: master meter account number, complex name and address, complex manager’s name, and complex phone number. Qualifying medical conditions include: -Paraplegic, hemiplegic or quadriplegic condition -Multiple sclerosis with special heating and/or cooling needs -Scleroderma with special heating needs -Life-threatening illness or compromised immune system, and special heating and/or cooling are needed to sustain life or prevent medical deterioration. -Asthma and/or sleep apnea Qualifying life-support equipment includes, but is not limited to: - Motorized wheelchair/scooter - IPPB or CPAP machines - Respirator (all types) - Hemodialysis machines - Iron lung
